The Street Fighter series continues to fight its way into new eras and establish its footing across the interactive, fighting genre of video gaming.
The most recent release, Street Fighter 6, is the seventh main entry in the Street Fighter franchise, and was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S on June 2, 2023, while an arcade version will be published by Taito later in the year.
A noticeable difference from this recent release in comparison to the predecessor, is it offers a variety of significant features and modes from the onset.
SF6 splits its content into three hubs: Fighting Ground, which most closely emulates the classic Street Fighter experience. Battle Hub, where players can congregate to challenge each other and compete in tournaments, and last but not least, World Tour, which serves as a story mode with an open world and RPG elements.
Each format centers around the classic Street Fighter style of 2D fighting gameplay.
Street Fighter 6’s roster of 18 characters is mostly familiar with audiences, with 12 returning characters and six new characters. A refreshing element with the returning characters, is the new quirks or facets added to their move sets.
